Remembering Where We Come From

Another Monday is upon us. But this Monday holds special meaning to me. Today is my dads birthday. I couldn't be happier or prouder to be his daughter. Help me wish him a Happy Birthday you all :) We all come from somewhere, and if it weren't for my dad I know I wouldn't be where I am today. He has always supported me and my dream to do music, and has been a constant presence in my life. He was always the one that, at the end of a performance, would come up and say "well, that was good Jess, but what you need to do next time is....." As a child, I used to get so frustrated that he couldn't just say "good job!" but as I grow older, I realize the wisdom of his approach. He was showing me he loved me and how proud of me he was in the best way he knew: by continuing to push me to be the best I could be. Happy Birthday, Dad. I love you!
In line with remembering where I came from, I was fortunate enough to be invited to attend the Nashville premiere of the new Hank Williams biopic movie "I Saw The Light". Tom Heddleston and Marc Abraham did a wonderful job of explaining their process during the shooting of the movie, and the production was great. It was my first movie premiere
and I couldn't have been happier that it was at a movie hearing songs my grandpa used to sing to me.
This week coming up is a busy one for me! I've got a songwriters night this Wednesday in Franklin, TN so come on down if you are free! With a new song written on Sunday possibly making a surprise appearance, you won't want to miss this show! Then this Sunday, Stoopid Kool is at Bikini Beach for a rousing good time. We are on rain or shine, so if you missed us last time make sure to mark your calendars. This gig is from 2-6pm, so it is perfect for those Sunday afternoon slumps.
